November 2026 Events in West Michigan: Your Month-at-a-Glance Guide

From food and wine weekends and holiday markets to shopping events, seasonal traditions, and community celebrations, here are some of the best things happening across West Michigan this November.

November is when West Michigan starts shifting from fall into the holiday season.

The leaves are still hanging on in some areas, restaurants and downtowns are busy with seasonal events, and holiday markets, shopping nights, light displays, and community traditions begin filling the calendar.

From Saugatuck and Holland to Grand Haven, Grand Rapids, South Haven, and Muskegon, there is plenty happening throughout the month.

Here are some of the events worth putting on your calendar this November.

November 5–7: Art Coast Food & Wine Festival — Saugatuck & Douglas

One of the biggest events of the month arrives early.

The Art Coast Food & Wine Festival runs November 5–7 throughout Saugatuck and Douglas and brings together local restaurants, Michigan wineries, guest chefs, tastings, special dinners, demonstrations, and live entertainment.

The weekend begins Thursday night with an island-inspired Welcome Party at the Riverside Pavilion.

Friday includes smaller hosted sessions, restaurant showcases, and a late-night Club Sugar event.

Saturday features the Grand Tasting along with chef demonstrations, gallery experiences, and collaboration dinners.

For anyone who enjoys West Michigan's restaurant and wine scene, this is one of November's standout weekends.

Location: Saugatuck & Douglas
Dates: November 5–7

November 6–14: Restaurant Week GR — Grand Rapids

Grand Rapids Restaurant Week begins November 6 and gives diners another reason to explore the city's restaurant scene.

Participating restaurants throughout the Grand Rapids area offer special menus and seasonal dining experiences during the event.

It is a good opportunity to try somewhere new or revisit a favorite before the holiday season gets fully underway.

Location: Participating Grand Rapids restaurants
Begins: November 6

November 7: Shop 'Til You Drop — South Haven

South Haven kicks off holiday shopping with Shop 'Til You Drop Saturday on November 7.

Participating downtown businesses offer special promotions, themed stops, food, drinks, and a shopping passport experience throughout the day.

For anyone looking to get an early start on holiday shopping while spending a day near Lake Michigan, South Haven makes an easy November destination.

Location: Downtown South Haven
Date: November 7

November 13: Shop 'Til You Drop — Downtown Holland

Holland has its own Shop 'Til You Drop event on Friday, November 13.

Participating shops and restaurants stay open from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., with discounts of up to 30% at participating businesses.

Downtown Holland is especially good for this kind of event because restaurants, boutiques, and local businesses are concentrated within a highly walkable area.

Location: Downtown Holland
Date: November 13
Time: 6–9 p.m.

November 13: Grand Rapids Comic Con

For a completely different November outing, Grand Rapids Comic Con returns to DeVos Place on November 13.

The event is one of the larger entertainment gatherings on the Grand Rapids calendar and adds some variety to a month that quickly becomes dominated by holiday events.

Location: DeVos Place, Grand Rapids
Date: November 13

November 14: Holiday Craft & Artisan Market — Grand Haven

Grand Haven's Holiday Craft & Artisan Market takes place November 14 at Central Park Place.

The event features 57 West Michigan artists, crafters, makers, bakers, and vendors, giving visitors a chance to shop for handmade gifts and locally produced items.

Coffee and baked goods are also part of the event, making this an easy Saturday morning or afternoon activity.

Location: Central Park Place, 421 Columbus Avenue, Grand Haven
Date: November 14
Time: 9 a.m.–3 p.m.

November 18: Christkindl Markt Begins — Grand Rapids

The holiday season starts to feel official when the Christkindl Markt opens at the Grand Rapids Downtown Market on November 18.

The European-inspired market transforms the area into a seasonal village featuring vendors, food, drinks, entertainment, and holiday shopping.

It has quickly become one of Grand Rapids' signature winter events.

Location: Grand Rapids Downtown Market
Begins: November 18

November 20: Kerstmarkt Begins — Holland

Holland's Kerstmarkt returns beginning Friday, November 20.

The outdoor European-style market features handmade holiday gifts, festive greenery, seasonal food, and local vendors and continues on Fridays and Saturdays through December 19.

The Dutch influence makes Kerstmarkt a particularly fitting holiday tradition for Holland.

Pair it with dinner or shopping downtown and it can easily become a full evening.

Location: Holland
Begins: November 20

November 21: Downtown Holland Holiday Open House

The following evening brings one of downtown Holland's bigger holiday events.

The Holiday Open House takes place Saturday, November 21, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Downtown businesses welcome shoppers with promotions, refreshments, gift wrapping, giveaways, and other activities.

Visitors can also expect Santa, reindeer, strolling carolers, roasted chestnuts, and downtown streets decorated for the season.

Location: Downtown Holland
Date: November 21
Time: 5–8 p.m.

November 21–December 13: Mistletoe Market — South Haven

The 40th Annual Mistletoe Market begins November 21 at the South Haven Center for the Arts.

The market features fine art and handmade items including décor, cards, clothing, jewelry, and other gift ideas from local and regional artists.

For anyone who prefers locally made gifts over big-box shopping, this is worth adding to a South Haven trip.

Location: South Haven Center for the Arts
Dates: November 21–December 13

November 23: ENLIGHTEN Begins at Frederik Meijer Gardens

Grand Rapids continues its holiday transition when ENLIGHTEN begins November 23 at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park.

The seasonal experience combines outdoor lighting, art, music, and winter scenery across the gardens.

It runs into January, but late November gives visitors an early opportunity to see the display before December gets busier.

Location: Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park
Begins: November 23

November 24: Christmas & Holiday Traditions at Meijer Gardens

The next day, Frederik Meijer Gardens begins its annual Christmas & Holiday Traditions exhibition.

The seasonal display brings together holiday traditions and cultural displays from around the world and continues through the holiday season.

That makes Thanksgiving week a strong time to combine ENLIGHTEN with the indoor holiday displays.

Location: Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park
Begins: November 24

November 27: Black Friday in Downtown Holland

Downtown Holland joins the Black Friday rush on November 27.

Rather than spending the day entirely at larger retailers, shoppers can also explore local businesses throughout the downtown district.

With restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, and Holland's heated sidewalks all nearby, downtown makes it easy to turn shopping into a full afternoon.

November 28: Small Business Saturday — Downtown Holland

The following day is Small Business Saturday.

Downtown Holland businesses participate on November 28, making it another good opportunity to shop locally during Thanksgiving weekend.

Because Kerstmarkt is also underway by this point in the month, shoppers can combine downtown stores with the holiday market.

Location: Downtown Holland
Date: November 28

A Few Smaller Saugatuck & Douglas Events

November is not limited to large festivals.

Saugatuck and Douglas also have smaller workshops, live music, art programming, classes, and community events throughout the month.

Early November alone includes cooking workshops, embroidery, art programs, fall wreath making, live music, and other local events.

That makes the area worth checking even when there is not a major festival happening.

Looking Ahead: Our Annual Christmas Tree Giveaway

November is also when our office begins preparing for one of our favorite client traditions of the holiday season.

Coldwell Banker Woodland Schmidt's annual Christmas Tree Giveaway is scheduled for Saturday, December 5, from 8:00 a.m. to noon at the Outdoor Discovery Center in Holland.

Throughout November, invitations are going out and preparations are underway as agents get ready to reconnect with clients and celebrate the beginning of the Christmas season.

For us at the Andrea Crossman Group, events like this are a good reminder that real estate is about more than transactions.

It is also about staying connected to the people and communities we serve.

Make a Weekend Out of It

One of the advantages of living in West Michigan is how close many of these communities are to one another.

A November weekend can easily include several stops.

Saugatuck & Holland

Start with the Art Coast Food & Wine Festival or a walk through downtown Saugatuck, then head north to Holland for dinner or shopping.

Holland & Grand Haven

Spend the morning at the Holland Farmers Market or downtown shops, then head north for the Grand Haven Holiday Craft & Artisan Market.

Grand Rapids

Restaurant Week, Christkindl Markt, Meijer Gardens, and downtown entertainment make Grand Rapids an easy full-day or weekend destination.

South Haven

Combine Shop 'Til You Drop or Mistletoe Market with downtown restaurants and a walk along the Lake Michigan waterfront.

November Is the Start of the Holiday Season in West Michigan

November can sometimes feel like the transition month between fall and winter.

But across West Michigan, it has become a busy season of its own.

Food and wine events start the month.

Holiday markets begin opening.

Downtowns turn on their lights.

Local businesses begin their biggest shopping season of the year.

And community traditions bring people together heading into Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Whether you live here year-round, own a second home along the lakeshore, or are visiting for the weekend, November offers plenty of reasons to get out and explore.

The Bottom Line

There is no shortage of things happening across West Michigan this November.

From the Art Coast Food & Wine Festival in Saugatuck and Restaurant Week in Grand Rapids to Kerstmarkt in Holland, holiday shopping in Grand Haven and South Haven, and the first major light displays of the season, the calendar fills quickly.

And as November turns into December, we're also looking forward to reconnecting with clients at the annual Christmas Tree Giveaway in Holland.

Save a few dates, support local businesses, and enjoy the start of another West Michigan holiday season.
